The Weight

Paco Before and After 1

Inspired by my dog and the 20 or so extra pounds I've picked up over the past 2 years, I started a diet. Medifast, to be exact. This is day 3.
The first day, I wasn't hungry, but I was tired. Yesterday, I felt great and had a lot of energy. Today, I have been tired and irritable most of the afernoon and evening. Supposedly, the first 3 days are the worst, so I'm optimistic that tomorrow will be better.
It's been relatively easy for Paco to lose his weight - he had no choice. We limit what we feed him each day and we walk him in the evening. Now that I think about it, the fact that I'm eating pre-measured Medifast food isn't that different than Paco's limited diet - I'd rather not be given a choice of foods to eat. Left to my own devices, I'd go with a cheesecake. In the meantime, the Medifast Oatmeal Raisin bars are like cookies.
Seriously, they're good. Too bad I can only have one bar a day.

So, Medifast is basically a liquid, albeit thickened liquids, diet?
How's it working so far? Did you do one of the all in one packages? Or did you mix and match?
I may have to try it.

Paco looks like he feels much better. He sure is a cutie!

Hi Amanda - it's much more than shakes and drinks. The Medifast means (of which you eat 5 a day) include: Chili, bars, oatmeal, pudding, shakes, chai latte, hot chocolate, and soups. You can eat any combination of these choices, except you can't have more than one bar a day. So you could just stick with the Chili, bars, and Oatmeal if you didn't want the liquid items. All the food actually tastes pretty good so far.

In addition to the 5 Medifast meals (eaten every 2 - 3 hours), you get a "real" meal called a "lean and green", that consists of 7 oz. poultry or seafood (or tofu) or 5 oz. beef, pork, or lamb, plus 2 cups of non-starchy vegetables.

I did a mix and match for my first order, so I could pick and choose what I got. I have read that some of the items in the all in one package don't taste very good (like the fruit drinks), and I wanted to be sure to get more of the solid foods. They're running a special where you get 1 week free, and compared to regular groceries and eating out, it really wasn't that expensive.

So far, so good. I have more energy today. I'll post updates going forward (good or bad).

And Paco says thanks!
